A collection of native plants for a pond of approximately 12.5 sq. mtrs (138 sq ft) with marginal shelves up to 9m (30 ft) long 30cm wide and a depth of 15-25cm.  The deep water area of the pond should preferably be at least 60cm (24in) deep.  For this collection the baskets options (if selected) comprise a mix of mainly 2 litres with some 1 litre baskets.  The plants will need to be potted up or split as they outgrow their baskets but most should be good for the initial season.  If the pond is in a windy site it may be preferable to go for larger baskets for some of the plants, especially the taller more vigorous ones, so they are more stable and less prone to blowing over -we would be happy to quote for this.

The collection will consist of the following plants:

3 Deep water plants including 2 native lilies
14 Oxygenators
40 Assorted marginals

And will include good selection of plants for example:

Native alba Water lily, Fringe lily, Water plantain, Flowering rush, Common cotton grass, Narrow reedmace, Cyperus sedge, Pendulous sedge, Sweet galingale, Branched bur reed, Marsh marigold, Square stemmed St John’s wort, Yellow loosestrife, Marsh woundwort, Purple loosestrife, Soft rush, Hard rush, Greater pond sedge, Water mint, Bog bean, Forget-me-not, Watercress, Water mint, Water crowfoot, Lesser spearwort, Greater spearwort, Hornwort, Willow moss, Water crowfoot, Starwort, Yellow flag, Brooklime and Water figwort.   

Plants will be supplied in 9cm pots and bare root apart from the deep water plants where the lilies will be supplied in 3 litre aquatic baskets and the other deep water plant in a 1 litre aquatic basket.  The 9cm plants will need to be potted up into larger aquatic baskets unless being planted directly into the bed of a natural pond.

Planting in baskets you would need to purchase approx 60 litres of soil and 9 litres of gravel.  If the baskets option is selected we will supply a mixture of  1 and 2 litre baskets appropriate for the plants selected with the 2 litre baskets for the taller/larger growing plants.
