A collection of ornamental plants (both native and non-native) for a more formal pond of approximately 7.5 sq. mtrs (83 sq ft) with marginal shelves up to 7m (23 ft) long 25cm wide and a depth of 15-25cm.  The deep water area of the pond should preferably be at least 50cm (24in) deep. For this collection the baskets options (if selected) comprises a mix of mainly 2 litres with some 1 litre baskets.  The plants will need to be potted up or split as they outgrow their baskets but most should be good for the initial season.  If the pond is in a windy site it may be preferable to go for larger baskets for some of the plants, especially the taller more vigorous ones, so they are more stable and less prone to blowing over -we would be happy to quote for this.

The collection will consist of the following plants:

2 Deep Water plants including 1 water lily
8 Oxygenators
27 Assorted marginals

And will include a selection of ornamental plants for example:

Water hawthorn, Water lily, Iris laevigata, Iris versicolor, Iris ‘Black Gamecock’, White marsh marigold, Golden club, Double marsh marigold, Bog arum, Zebra rush, Chameleon plant, Lobelia cardinalis, Golden creeping jenny, Lobelia ‘Queen Victoria, Lobelia siphilitica, Lobelia siphilitica alba, White skunk cabbage, Small reedmace, Slender reedmace, Lizard’s tail, Spearmint (white or blue) Mimulus ringens, Zantedeschia, Apache beads, Blue pickerel, White pickerel, Fibre optic plant, White forget-me-not, Cotton grass, Hornwort, Water soldier, Hair grass, Willow moss, Starwort and Water crowfoot.

Plants will be supplied in 9cm pots and bare root apart from the water lily which will be in a 2 litre basket and other deep water plant which will be in a 1 litre basket.  The 9cm plants will need to be potted up into larger aquatic baskets unless being planted into the bed of a natural pond.

Planting in baskets you would need to purchase approx 42 litres of soil and 6.5 litres of gravel.  If the baskets option is selected we will supply a mixture of approx 7 x 1 litre baskets and 20 x 2 litre baskets appropriate to the plants selected.
