Water mint (Mentha aquatica) is a British native perennial that is one of the best marginals for pollinators and excellent plant for wildlife. All the mint family are a valuable source of nectar for bees and butterflies and the foliage provides food for a variety of caterpillars. Profuse tiny lilac flowers are produced from July to as late as October. It is a vigorous grower so it is best to plant in baskets to keep under control and not recommended for very small ponds -for these Pennyroyal is a very good alternative. Best not to use in a bog garden as it will tend to take over.
Height: 40-60cm
Planting position: Pond marginal shelf up to 100cm deep; or very wet soil in full sun or part shade
Form: 9cm (0.5 litre) in a solid pot -please select size below
