Branched bur reed (Sparganium erectum) is a striking tall vigorous British native pond plant, with bright green arching sword shaped leaves and unusual decorative greenish-white flower heads in June/July followed by prickly green then brown fruit. A good plant for food and shelter for wildlife and nesting wildfowl, not suitable for small ponds. Please note this will be cut back after flowering as the foliage starts dying back.
