Liquid Ecopond Barley-bio Algae Control is a completely natural solution to the problems of algae blanket weed and green water and helps keep your pond clean and clear.

This is similar to Ecopond Extract of Barley Straw (now banned from sale) but contains micro-organisms that help to starve the algae of nutrients and alter the water chemistry to help prevent regrowth.  Generally Extract of Barley Straw would be the first port of call for treating new pond/green pond syndrome and blanket weed, whereas this product can be tried if blanket weed/filamentous algae is particularly stubborn or extract of Barley Straw seems to be less effective than it was.

Regular physical removal of blanket weed from a pond is a time-consuming job – and it makes the problem worse.  One way to control blanket weed is by using pads or bales of barley straw itself but this is a messy unattractive solution and because the straw needs to break down to become active it will take several months before it becomes effective.  Ecopond Barley-bio is a faster-acting simple clean eco-friendly solution to control the growth of algae (both green water and blanket weed).

We particularly like this product as it is formulated from organically grown British Straw under the F.A.A.B (Farm Assured Scheme). No herbicides or pesticides are introduced during the growing process or during the production process.  It is also safe for fish plants wildlife children and pets.

250ml treats 1 000 gallons (4,500 litres) for 6 weeks for ponds with an existing problem or 12 weeks as a preventative measure; 500ml treats 1 000 gallons (4,500 litres) for 12 weeks for ponds with an existing problem or 24 weeks as a preventative measure.

Recommended dosage 125ml per 1,000 gallons (4 500 litres) as an initial dose followed by 20-40ml per week.   Calculate the volume of water in your pond as follows:

 Cubic metres x 1,000 = litres;

 Cubic feet x 6.25 = gallons
