Solomon’s seal (Polygonatum x hybridum) has elegant arching stems up to 1.2m in spring with pairs of oval leaves followed quickly by green-tipped white flower bells in late spring to early summer. The flowers are followed by black berries which together with the fine leaf and stem structure provide interest into late summer and early autumn. It prefers part of full shade and works well with Hostas and ferns. It has an RHS AGM.
