Iris Louisiana ‘Black Gamecock’ produces large velvety purple-black flowers with yellow highlights from May/June to July with a second flush in late summer possible. It was awarded the Mary Swords Deballion Medal in 1989 by the American Iris Society (the highest honour for a Louisiana iris). Currently available as a good sized bare root plant equivalent to a 1 litre.
Planting position: Bog garden or marginal plant up to 15cm full sun or partial shade
Form: Bare root, or 1 litre and 2 litre in an aquatic basket
