Crimson flag lily ‘Major'(Hesperantha coccinea), previously known as Schizostylis, is a vigorous clump forming perennial with narrow sword-shaped light green grassy leaves and flower spikes bearing up to 10 crimson-red flowers. The ‘Major’ cultivar is similar to the standard flag lily but has slightly larger flowers.
A wonderful showy plant that gives colour in late summer to early winter long after most other plants have finished and is semi-evergreen. See also Crimson flag lily (white form) and Crimson flag lily ‘Mrs Hegarty’. Hardy to minus 10 degrees but frosts can damage flower spikes.
